At 99, Marian was the oldest person in St Ives as Year 2000 began. She lived at Broadleas Court, a warden-controlled scheme run by Anchor Housing, and was helped with shopping and medication but otherwise led an independent life. In an emergency Marian only needed to press the pendant around her neck. She recently moved away to be with relatives.
